📄 Product Information ▾

The family pack. Best per-kg price we offer.

Ten vacuum packs of single-origin Kalanamak — bundled at ₹390/kg instead of ₹449. Save ₹591 vs buying 1 kg packs separately. The honest deep-pantry choice for a Kalanamak-loving household.

Small. Dark. Fragrant. The way Kalanamak was meant to be.

Grown in the GI-protected Terai belt of Eastern Uttar Pradesh, our Kalanamak is a 140-day heritage grain — short, aromatic, and impossibly fragrant. The kind of rice your grandmother would recognise the moment the lid lifts.

Sourced directly from FPO farmer households in Siddharthnagar and Gorakhpur. Low-heat milled near the field so the natural oils, aroma, and micronutrients stay intact. Triple-layer vacuum-sealed at source for 12-month freshness.

🧑‍🍳 How to cook ▾
  1. Rinse lightly (1–2 swirls only — over-rinsing washes away the natural aroma).
  2. Soak 20–30 minutes in warm water. Non-negotiable — Kalanamak grains drink water fully.
  3. 1:2 rice-to-water ratio. Add a pinch of salt and 1 tsp ghee — doubles the aroma.
  4. Cook on low flame, lid on, 12–15 minutes. In a pressure cooker: one whistle only.
  5. Rest 5 minutes with lid on. Fluff gently with a fork. Inhale.

👪 Why families switch and stay ▾
  • Naturally low Glycaemic Index (49–52) — a gentler curve than typical white basmati (~58) or Sona Masuri (~72). What diabetic family members can eat without the guilt.
  • High-protein, iron-rich heritage grain — naturally elevated nutrition vs polished commodity rice.
  • Aroma you can trust — never polished, never sprayed. The fragrance is the grain's own, climbing three floors when it cooks.
  • 140-day single-crop cultivation — Terai farmers forego a second crop to grow it, and get paid up to 3–4× the commodity rate. Direct rupees. No middleman skim.
  • GI-tagged, batch-traceable — every pack lists the FPO and village. Ask, and we'll send a name and number.
